Hey everyone, my name’s Derek and I’m a citizen of God’s Kingdom. Do I deserve to be? Absolutely not. Was I a rebel against God and his word? Was I piling high a mountain of iniquity? Absolutely. Was I different in any way from the worst sinner? Was I different from my neighbours? No, but glory be to God, he has made a difference where there was none! And this story, the story of God’s gracious gift, completely undeserved, is the story I love to tell! There is no other like it! Here is a most beautiful summary of the whole thing:
“As all men have sinned in Adam, lie under the curse, and are deserving of eternal death, God would have done no injustice by leaving them all to perish, and delivering them over to condemnation on account of sin, according to the words of the apostle, ‘that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may become guilty before God…For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God…For the wages of sin is death.’
But in this the love of God was manifested, that He sent His only begotten Son into the world, that whosever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Is there anything so jaw-dropping, so awe-inspiring, so unbelievable as God’s grace towards sinners? While we were still sinners, Christ died for us! Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let us live every single moment to his glory, right now and for the rest of our lives! And dear sinners who don’t know the love of the Lord, look to the cross and see salvation offered to you, full and free! Turn to him in repentance and faith, and you will never regret that you did. There is no king like King Jesus!
